The clear, cool current gently carries you along. The bright Texas sun peeks through the branches of the old live oak trees. Your children are squealing with delight as they swim, splash, and play. Relax and embrace this moment. This is the Ramblin' River at the Hyatt Hill Country Resort in San Antonio, and this is what a vacation should be.
The Hyatt Hill Country Resort perfectly combines the comfortable luxury of a Hill Country ranch house with all the family-friendly activities and amenities you could want. The property exudes a laid-back elegance where the most discriminating guest can feel pampered and at the same time a family with young children (like ours) can feel at ease.
From tubing on the 950 foot Ramblin' River to building sand castles on the mini-beach, from riding bikes to soaring on the "hidden" tire swing, from the organized water-balloon toss to kickball, your children will play from sun up to sun down. When the sun goes down, the fun doesn't stop, though. There are still S'mores around the fire pit and a kids' movie on the lawn to be enjoyed.
If Mom and Dad need a little time to themselves, kids can attend Camp Hyatt for a half-day of supervised activities (cost $35). While the kids are there, parents might enjoy lounging beside the Texas-shaped adult pool, reading a book in a hammock, or playing golf on the 27-hole championship course. To indulge tired moms, we recommend a spa treatment at Windflower - one of the most beautiful and unique spa facilities we have seen.
Since Shamu lives just down the road, most families will want to visit Sea World San Antonio (our top-rated amusement park in Texas). A multi-day ticket to Sea World costs the same price as a one-day pass, so a fun idea is to divide up your Sea World experience. For example, spend one afternoon at the waterpark and save the shows and rides for another day. Just make sure that you plan plenty of time at the resort to enjoy everything the Hyatt Hill Country Resort offers. It would be a shame to stay at such a beautiful and fun place only to spend all of your time elsewhere. We stayed at the Hyatt Hill Country for two nights and went to Sea World on our last day after checking out of the hotel. This worked out well for us, although we could have stayed at the resort much longer.
The Hyatt Regency Hill Country Resort in San Antonio is our favorite family vacation destinations in Texas. Combining a visit to this amazing resort with Sea World puts this family vacation over the top. We think you will agree. Enjoy!
