Sunshine, strawberries, and room to run...  Simple, wholesome family-fun is found at the many pick-your-own farms around Texas.  We particularly enjoy Sweet Berry Farm in Marble Falls, Tx.

Sweet Berry Farm offers pick-your-own strawberries, blackberries, and pumpkins according to season.  We visited during strawberry season and enjoyed filling our strawberry box to the brim with the beautiful red fruit.  You only pay for what you pick; there is no entrance fee.  In addition to "playing farmer" and harvesting your own fruit, families will also enjoy feeding the animals on the property and having a picnic at one of the many shaded picnic areas.  We look forward to returning this fall for the pumpkin harvest and trying our luck on the "Texas maze".

Go ahead and plan a day on the farm for your family (and arm yourself with plenty of strawberry recipes too).  The simplicity will make you smile.

Driving through the picturesque Hill Country to Natural Bridge Caverns, you would never imagine that another world exists below the surface.  But indeed, as you walk down into the cavern, you are immersed into a world of beauty and mystery that many of us have never seen.

Natural Bridge Caverns, Texas' largest cavern, offers several tour options ranging from basic introduction to more adventurous exploration.  Our family enjoyed the basic Discovery Tour ($17.95 adults, $9.95 ages 3-11, departs every 30 minutes).  Our knowledgeable guide took us on a paved walking tour of the cavern's largest rooms and explained the history and geology of the cavern in a way that the whole family could enjoy.  Our boys enjoyed pretending that they were Indiana Jones on a magnificent adventure.  Our daughter, age 3, enjoyed the "Fairy Castle" stalagmite formation, but overall, we decided that ages 5 and up are probably best suited to enjoy the tour.

In a word, "stunning".  The Dallas Arboretum is a beautiful garden that rivals the most renown gardens in Europe.  To stroll through the flower-lined paths is to nourish the soul.  Yet, the garden is more than a place of tranquil beauty; it can also be a place for great family fun.  The Dallas Arboretum has several kid-friendly attractions which make it an enjoyable destination for the entire family.  Our kids loved playing in the Texas Pioneer town and storybook playhouses.  They also enjoyed simply running through the open spaces, an appreciated activity when traveling in a big city.  Located on the shores of White Rock Lake, the Arboretum is an ideal setting for a family picnic.  Be sure to bring your camera as family photo opportunities are everywhere.  The Dallas Arboretum will inspire and delight you.  Texas Family Travel encourages all families traveling to Dallas to visit this beautiful treasure.
